Who I work with

At Inspired to Change I work with people who are experiencing an emotional or physical issue which is holding them back or who are struggling to cope with life’s challenges and adapting to change. Often they have tried other approaches to move forward but ultimately they still feel unhappy or stuck. People just like you.

Regardless of what brings people to see us they all have one thing in common:

  • They are motivated to get better, cope better or be better
  • They are ready to get their lives on track
  • They are inspired to change

And that is what I am passionate about and skilled at helping people to do!

In addition to the many different issues that the solution focused approach is effective at helping my personal passion is helping people with Anxiety, Phobias, Confidence and Medication Reduction. I am also experienced at working with teenagers and young people.

Following an initial test deferment because of her fear, Claire began working with her, quickly getting her to believe in herself. The transformation was unbelievable, and this was not only evident in her driving but also in many aspects of her life. My daughter passed her test on the second attempt. Without Claire's help, I think she would still be trying today! Building on the success of this, Claire helped my daughter to have the confidence to tackle day-to-day anxieties in many other areas of home and university life. The direction of the therapy was always driven by my daughter, who went to each session with much enthusiasm. Claire is positive and encouraging in her approach. She celebrates every small step towards a target. Claire tailors the needs of her clients to the hypnotherapy, clearly explaining how the brain works, how anxieties have developed and how when the brain and body are very relaxed, she can instil belief in the person to overcome them - this is the hypnotherapy which my daughter found very relaxing, but afterwards felt like she needed a refreshing nap as her brain felt like it had worked hard. If anxiety prevents you from achieving something, I recommend hypnotherapy, particularly Claire. Finding anyone else with comparable gentle but enthusiastic positivity who can quickly build up the essential rapport necessary for the hypnotherapy to begin would be a struggle.Response from the ownerThank you and C so very much for taking the time to wrote such a detailed & helpful review 🙂 I am beyond proud of all that she has achieved and wish her all the very best for the next steps! Claire x Trudy B.Trudy B. ★★★★★ I approached Claire for consultation after reading her website, positive reviews, and particularly chose her because of her professional pharmaceutical background. Her scientific approach to hypnotherapy was a real asset as she helped me to understand how my brain works, and why I was reacting and coping as I was. I wanted to stop biting my nails, but I what I got was so much more than that. She helped me to root-cause analyse my behaviours, and put practical steps in place to help me cope in future. Thank you Claire for your guidance and support. You made all the difference.Response from the ownerThank you so much for taking the time to write this Trudy & I am thrilled to hear you found our work together so helpful. Terri L.Terri L. ★★★★★ I was sceptical about hypnotherapy but having spoken with a family member who had therapy through Inspired to Change I decided I had nothing to loose. The initial discussion with Claire was very reassuring and helped me to understand the process, which made a lot of sense to me. I am very pleased that I went ahead as now understand what was leading to my anxiety and how to stop adding to my 'anxiety bucket'. The process is not intrusive and at no time did I feel uncomfortable or exposed.I would suggest that anyone thinking about this approach Claire for an initial informal chat, like me you have nothing to lose and can then make an informed decision. All the best.Response from the ownerThank you so much, Terri - I am thrilled that you feel hypnotherapy was so worthwhile for you. I wish you all the best! Ricky S.Ricky S. ★★★★★ Thank you Claire for all your help and support. I now feel I have the tools to make a difference to my life but I know there is still a long way to go but have to confidence to achieve this.Response from the ownerThank you so much for your review - I’m so pleased you found our time together useful. I wish you all the very best for the future! Simon K.Simon K. ★★★★★ I was introduced to Claire by my oncologist following a nasty bout of tinnitus. In just one hour Claire's clear and detailed explanation of how the problem had occurred, how the brain reacts, and what therapies can be provided, gave me a huge amount of confidence and peace of mind. I haven't actually used Claire's services yet (and we both hope I don't have to) but knowing she is there is hugely reassuring. Thank you so much Claire. Highly Recommended.Response from the ownerThank you for taking the time to write a review, Simon - it was my pleasure to help, and I hope you continue not to need me! Ben A.Ben A. ★★★★★ Working with Claire gave me actionable skills and insight to dramatically improve how to address challenges in my personal and professional life for the better. Claire is great at explaining and contextualising how brains and our instincts work, providing a means to prioritise, make improved decisions and rationalise situations. Highly recommended.Daniel BDaniel B ★★★★★ Had 6 sessions with Claire regarding OCD. Whilst this is a very short timeframe I felt the sessions greatly impacted not only how I saw my OCD but my general mindset. I continue to focus on the positives and keep my 'bucket' as low as possible which has helped with my OCD. I have had OCD since a child and although I have managed to reduce my level of OCD to what I feel is a relatively minimal impact on my life I definitely had improving to do. I will be continuing to see Claire every 4-6 weeks just to keep in the loop and keep up the progress. There is no magic within the sessions, it is more understanding how your brain works alongside relaxation 'emptying bucket' techniques which I am sure Claire is a lot better at explaining than myself. I would highly recommend Claire.Response from the ownerThank you Daniel - I’m so happy you have got so much value from the sessions - it was wonderful to see your all your hard work in that time translate into such great progress!Really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. Tracy P.Tracy P. ★★★★★ Claire was a great help to my young teen daughter who was struggling to find any joy at all at school. My daughter shifted from hugely dreading going to school to going in happily after just a few zoom sessions. Claire showed my daughter how to find a way to face the day and see the positive in her experience. What a relief for us all.Response from the ownerThank you so much for taking the time to write this Tracy - I really appreciate it; and I’m so glad I was able to help 😃 Susi O.Susi O. ★★★★★ I had seen Claire talk about mental health and anxiety on a face book webinar and I was so impressed that I asked her to do the same talk to my team at work. She was very professional, and very knowledgeable on this subject and used her illustrations to show how the brain deals with anxiety . My team said she was very engaging and we got some great tips on sleeping better and how to deal with anxiety better . Highly recommend her for a corporate talks. 🙂Response from the ownerSo pleased to hear you & your team found the online talk interesting & helpful! Was a pleasure to meet you all. Liz G.Liz G. ★★★★★ I approached Claire to talk to my school work colleagues about sleep for mental health, and she was brilliant. I knew that she had the knowledge and skills to deliver an interesting and engaging talk and I just love her delivery style. Claire explains the 'science' really clearly and we learnt a lot about the function of sleep on the brain. I recommend her to other organisations who want to increase their awareness and knowledge of wellbeing and mental health strategies.Response from the ownerThank you, Liz - it was a pleasure to meet and speak with your team and even better to hear they found it helpful and interesting! Rachel H.Rachel H. ★★★★★ Empathic and knowledgeable therapistAfter speaking to Claire I brought my 11 year old daughter to see her for anxiety. After only 1 session she came away with a more positive mindset and with tools to enable her to help herself. Looking forward to seeing where more sessions lead. I have also recommended her to a couple of friends who have both said that they have really benefited from their sessions with Claire. She puts you at ease immediately but also has a depth of knowledge that is amazing!Response from the ownerI particularly enjoy working with teens so that they understand just how much they are able to influence their well-being themselves! I hope she continues to thrive. js_loader

      Mind Over Meds

Having spent over 25 years working within the National Health Service as a pharmacist dispensing medicines and advice on a wide range of illnesses and conditions, and offering help and support in preventing and managing both mental and physical health concerns, I felt like there was more I could do for my patients than was possible in the time I had to spend with each of them.

It was time for a change, time to focus more closely on the reasons behind my patients’ physical and mental problems, rather than quickly ‘firefighting’ the worst of the crises.

And personally, time to do something that fitted in better with my family life, as well as providing me with a new learning challenge – so I retrained as a clinical hypnotherapist!

Since becoming a solution focused hypnotherapist, it has become ever more clear to me exactly how much our mental wellbeing impacts on our physical health, and vice versa – the two are so closely connected that it is virtually impossible to distinguish the impact of each on our overall health. It is fascinating to see how clients’ minor physical symptoms improve, even though that isn’t why I am working with them and how other clients weren’t worried about their mental health, or high stress levels, it was ‘just’ their IBS they wanted help with, yet both improved.

This inspired me to investigate more closely the link between our brains and our bodies, and to uncover how being aware of the connection between the two can really improve our health.

I have always strongly believed that each of us has the responsibility to take care of our own mental and physical health and that while medication can be an important part of that, there are other crucial things we can do to prevent ill health.

These blogs, and the work I do with clients as part of Inspired To Change, are my way of sharing these ideas with all of you.
